How to share a PDF securely

Sending a sensitive PDF safely is about more than the file itself — it is the whole handling chain.

Before you send

1. Redact anything the recipient should not see.
2. Strip metadata.
3. Encrypt with an AES-256 open password.

Sending

Share the password over a separate channel — a text or call, not the same email. Prefer links with expiry over permanent attachments where possible.

After

Keep a record of who received what, and re-issue with a new password if a recipient list changes.
